Let’s collaborate!
LanguageMap.eu is the first foundation of a mapping effort for the languages of Europe – but more work can be done to make this database more comprehensive, more accurate and, overall, more useful.
To this end, we heartily welcome opportunities for collaboration.
If you are currently preparing a proposal for the “Safeguarding linguistic diversity in Europe” call (HORIZON-CL2-2026-01-HERITAGE-06, Deadline: 23/9/2026), we would like to offer our support as a partner. Our expertise directly addresses the following expected outcome defined in the call text:
"Maps and visual presentations showing the linguistic diversity in Europe are available, including a variety of existing languages (regional and minority languages, indigenous languages, low resources languages etc.) and offering suited terminology and explanations."
MINDS & SPARKS, a research and innovation organisation based in Vienna, Austria, is the entity behind LanguageMap.eu. We conducted the research, data aggregation, and technical implementation of the platform. We are eager to join your consortium to contribute our specialised knowledge of mapping and visualising European linguistic diversity.
A detailed overview of our work and technical capabilities can be found in our
MINDS & SPARKS Organisation Presentation.
Why Include LanguageMap.eu?
As only two proposals will be funded under this call, LanguageMap.eu offers tailored upgrade packages to maximise the impact of your project. Including us will strengthen your proposal, as the European Commission specifically requires ‘maps and visual presentations showing linguistic diversity’—the core competency of our platform.
LanguageMap.eu can be expanded in three key areas:
Scientifically
data depth and linguistic research
Technologically
platform architecture and integration
Feature-based
user tools and interactive components
We have outlined specific expansion ideas in the section below the graph. Furthermore, depending on your proposal’s unique concept, we can develop entirely new applications or bespoke mapping components.
Proven Track Record
LanguageMap.eu has been presented to EC Policy Officers, who strongly advised further development and extension through upcoming initiatives. Notably, the topic of the RISE UP project (HORIZON-CL2-2022-HERITAGE-01-01), under which LanguageMap.eu was established, is explicitly mentioned in the current call.
Next Steps
The interdisciplinary team at MINDS & SPARKS is ready to join your consortium and lead a work package on map research and development (or similar).
If you are preparing a proposal or are part of an existing consortium and wish to involve us, please contact us at: contact@mindsandsparks.org
Please include a brief overview of your project and the current consortium partners. We will then arrange a call to discuss how we can best contribute to your success.
